Jacques Salerno

Editor's note

Italian artist Jacques Salerno is a designer, performer, painter and visual artist. She graduated from the Perugini Art Institute in Decoration, as well as from the Academy of Fine Arts of Carrara in Visual Arts with a thesis on anatomy and sexology, a guide to the new contemporary sexual landscape.Working from her studio in a gorgeous vacation town in Tuscany, the artist’s goal is to channel her obsession with old Hollywood glamour. She is inpsired by the opulence and excess of the eighties and invites the viewer to enjoy an updated take on the traditional idea of excess. For Salerno, art is about investigating space and colour. In her work, she offers a vision of the living spaces we occupy in this constantly changing world and an exploration of how subjects interact within them. Her goal is to make people aware of the beauty of the things that surround them. For me, making art is a celebration of the simple moments that make our life different and special. The world is very beautiful if you look at it, but most people don’t look very much. They just scan the ground in front of them so they can walk but they don’t really look at things incredibly well, with intensity. So I focus my attention on the details I love: objects, clothes, and the vacation landscapes around me.Jacques Salerno currently lives and works in Tuscany, Italy.
