human flow DIONE , 2019
This sculpture was created from many individual wooden slats and a total of 9 different types of wood. During a laborious and thoroughly planned process the strips were connected to each other in such a way that they run out irregularly towards the bottom, creating a dynamic flow. The surface of the sculpture was finely polished and left natural. In the title "human flow" was derived from the aphorism of the Greek natural philosopher Heraclitus of Ephesus: "Pantha rhei" - Everything flows. Just as the water in a stream is always in motion, all things, living beings, and phenomena in the world are continuously subject to change. Everything changes and evolves, nothing stays as it is. "DIONE" comes from Greek mythology and is the name of one of the 82 moons of Saturn known so far.
