human flow ADRASTEA , 2020
This sculpture was created from many individual wooden slats. Through precise, planned intention, the slats were connected in such a way that they taper out irregularly towards the bottom, creating a dynamic flow. The alternating combination of lime and oak wood creates a particularly attractive pattern. The surface of this sculpture was finely polished and otherwise left natural. The title "human flow" was derived from the aphorism of the Greek natural philosopher Heraclitus of Ephesus: "Pantha rhei" - Everything flows. Just as the water in a stream is always in motion, all things, living beings, and phenomena in the world are subject to continuous change. Everything changes and evolves, nothing remains as it is. "ADRASTEA" comes from Greek mythology and is the name of one of the 79 moons of Jupiter known so far.
