Portugiese artist Jerusa Simone graduated in fine arts from the Escola Artística do Porto. The artist's highly personal approach to painting is rooted in daily life experiences, reccurring emotions, and memories.

In her artistic practice, naive drawings emerge from abstract backgrounds. A process of creation that is devoid of pre-existing ideas, allows her to embrace painting as an act of spontaneous movements based on intuitive choices. Subtle lines give shape to ordinary objects juxtaposed with human figures, evoking a sense of both familiarity and strangeness. Her body of work, regardless of the medium, is created with the goal to reconstruct the connection between symbols and meaning. The artist  thus makes use of abstract and figurative forms, colour, and texture to stimulate the viewer both visually and intellectually.

During the past years, Simone has been exploring a variety of mediums, from painting to video art. This gave her the opportunity to exhibit her work internationally in various contexts, including Portugal, Italy, Saudi Arabia, England, Greece, Spain, the USA, and most recently Switzerland. The artist currently lives and works in Zürich, Switzerland.
