Marco Ortolan

Argentinian , 1973

The work of artist Marco Ortolan oscillates between hyper-realism and impressionism, while simultaneously displaying a clear link to the artistic heritage of the Italian Renaissance. Composition and light play a defining role in his pieces, which always start out as drawings in colour, before the artist translates them into broad yet precise brushstrokes to give them shape and finally into a highly refined artwork.

''Our role as an artist is to awaken the spirit and sensitivity of the viewer, as art is linked to the spirit.''

The artist currently lives and works in Argentina.
