Self-taught artist Derrick Ndushabandi chose to engage with art only at a later point in life, as a form of personal resurrection.
“I have been an art lover my whole life but it took me 20 years to know that I’d only be myself if I’m painting on canvas."
Ndushaband finds canvas the canvas to be a place to open up and surrender all of his ideas and doubts. The artist likes to experiment with various mediums such as acrylics, oils, and mixed media. His ambition is to make art that speaks to the soul.
“Finding my style of painting was the most challenging part of my career and sometimes it still feels as if I haven't gotten there yet but I don't want that to keep me from experimenting“
The artist currently lives and works in Kigali, Rwanda.
