Alexandra Ciorcila

Romanian, 2002

Alexandra Ciorcilă graduated with a bachelor's degree in fine arts from the University of Fine Arts and Design in Cluj-Napoca. Already from an early age, did the artist start to develop an artistic identity, acquiring skills and expanding her knowledge during her teenage years at one of the art high schools in the country.

Mostly working in oil on canvas, Ciorcilă's colour pallet is dominated by cool tones. Fascinated by the issues surrounding what it means to be human, the artist depicts the protagonists of her visual universe in their most vulnerable state, diving into matters such as intimacy, personal life and space, the subconscious, dreams, and even death. Ciorcilă's most recent artistic investigations dive into social matters such as the housing crises and the loss of intimate space.

The artist currently lives and works in Cluj-Napoca.
